The main line station is a 5 min walk with frequent trains to London (journey time about 40 mins) and all points north.
An hourly bus service runs from the station direct to Stansted Airport taking about 40mins.
The town centre is about a 20min walk (1-1.5 miles) or 10 min bus ride utilising the frequent service
The general hospital is 10 min walk from the house on a regualr bus route.
A regular bus service runs to the University from the station (about a 15min ride).
The A12 main trunk route, which links with the M25, is a 5 min drive.
The sports and leisure centre is a 10min walk with swimming pool, gym and 10pin bowling
